the non-chocolate version |
Chocolate Sugar Cookies
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
2 eggs, beaten
4 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup sour cream
5 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup cocoa
1. Cream sugar and butter together, add eggs, vanilla and sour cream. Mix well.
2. Add rest of the dry ingredients and mix.
3. Chill dough for at least one hour.
4. Roll out on lightly floured surface and cut. Roll dough thicker than regular sugar cookies.
5. Bake at 375 degrees for 6-7 minutes
6. Cool and frost!
** If you don't want the chocolate version, skip the cocoa and add 1/2 cup more flour
Frosting
5 cups powdered sugar
1 1/2 cups butter, melted
1/2 cup cream
2 egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla
dash of salt
1. Combine ingredients and beat until smooth.
2. Frost and enjoy!
*I also recommend trying Williams-Sonoma's marshmallow frosting. It's on sale right now and so good!
Another Christmas tradition that I mentioned in my holiday post are DUTCH BABIES! (or as some people call them, German Pancakes). If you've never had them, you're missing out. They are super easy to make too! Click the link above for that recipe.
Looks sooo delicious!

Thanks for your comment, I love your blog! I'm a huge fan of sugar cookies {and chocolate}-they are both weaknesses of mine so I'm so glad the first post I read of yours was about them :) I like you already. Also, I grew up eating German pancakes all the time, only we called the "hoot nannies!" {and I thought everyone called them hoot nannies} I'm glad to see that others enjoy them so much, and call them dutch babies! D-lish :)
